During this tutorial, a Debian virtual machine will be restarted. As with other training documents, it is important to note that these steps should be followed on training systems without data or users connected to them.
First, login to Prism Element.
Second, navigate to the VM screen by clicking on Home and selecting VM
Near the top of the screen, click on Table next to Overview.
Right-click the virtual machine and select Launch Console.
Login to the virtual machine.
Click on Activities, type ter for terminal, and click on the terminal application.
To remove RAM or CPUs from the virtual machine, the virtual machine will need to be shutdown. To shutdown the virtual machine, enter the command:
sudo shutdown -h now
Continue after the virtual machine has been powered off by switching back to Prism Element.
Double-click the virtual machine which will be modified to have less RAM or CPUs. Double-clicking it opens the "Update VM" dialog window.
In the window, reduce the RAM and / or the number of vCPUs. For this example, the amount of RAM will be increased from 4 to 6.
Afterwards, click the Save button to commit the changes to the virtual machine.
In Prism Central, the new number of vCPUs and the amount of RAM will be listed for the virtual machine. Right-click the virtual machine and select power on to begin using it with the reduced RAM and vCPUs.
